Arochukwu is a principal historic
town in the Igboland of Eastern Nigeria. It is made up of 19
villages and of course, the home of the famous
Long Juju oracle. Our identity is profoundly
and directly molded around our culture and unique heritage. To understand
us as a group of people, one has to see, understand and appreciate our celebration
of Ikeji Aro (the harvesting of the new yam, and the mark of the end of the
year), among other things. The rendition of our culture through music, attire/fashion, food, and
jingoistic dance movement details the interlocking meaning of our heritage. Our core objective is to continue to unite,
promote and share our cultural heritage in our local communities.
As a non-profit organization, we are focused on charitable
services, and we work in tangent with the national umbrella, the
All Aro USA, to
organize and provide annual medical missions to our ancestral homeland, Arochukwu, Nigeria. As 'Umo-Aro' in diaspora, we use the Ikeji Aro
celebration and the national conference events to stay connected and share our
culture. Read more...>
