Nzuko Arochukwu of Northern California is a non-profit organization located in the San Francisco/Bay Area.  As a non-profit organization, we work in tangent with the national umbrella, the All Aro USA, to organize and provide annual medical missions to our ancestral homeland, Arochukwu, Nigeria.  As 'Umo-Aro' in diaspora, we use the Ikeji Aro celebration and the national conference events to stay connected and share our culture. Here's the link to the national website...>

Moreover, we engage in charitable and volunteer activities that contributes to the development and enrichment of our Northern California local communities, provide a forum to promote unity and good citizenship for all members in Northern California, raise appreciation of and awareness of the Arochukwu culture and heritage within our local community, and foster mutual understanding, sharing of resources, and mutual development of Northern California communities and Arochukwu, Nigeria.

Past Activities:

Inauguration of the organization took place in October 2001.  Officers were elected and both Constitution and By-Laws were ratified.  Membership drive was initiated.  We had Year-end get-together for members and their families, and invited guests from the local community.  Santa Claus entertained kids. We had a food drive and collected canned and other non-perishable food items that were donated to the Samaritan house in San Mateo, California. Mazi Oji, the President of the organization narrated Arochukwu history and the significance of its rich culture, for the benefit of our young members and the invited guests including members of the First African Episcopal Church of Union City.  In June 2002, the organization held its first annual picnic for the members and invited friends and co-workers from our local community.  Also in summer of 2002, the organization donated $200 to support the San Francisco Breast Cancer Walk.

 Present Activities:

The organization holds quarterly meetings to discuss matters of general interest and updates on assignments given to established committee(s).  The organization was incorporated in the state of California as a non-profit entity in April 2002 and has been in the process of obtaining a 501 (C) (3) non-profit organization status.  The planning committee for the official launching of the organization has been selected and tasked to organize the launching activities.
